David is a fourth generation horseman. He is a USEF Large R Judge for American Saddlebred, Hackney Pony, Morgan, Road Horse, and Saddleseat Equitation, and has judged open shows for well over 30 years.
David has been an active officer and board member of many horse associations over the years, including the American Morgan Horse Association and the Michigan Justin Morgan Horse Association. He currently serves as President of the United Professionals Horseman's Association Chapter 20 and also as board member of the UPHA, as well as Vice President of the Michigan Horse Show Association.
As a trainer and competitor, David's work has been recognized on a national level. He was awarded the UPHA Chapter Person of the Year, as well as a Pyramid Award. Additionally, he is a recipient of the American Morgan Horse Association Golden Reins Award. This honor is awarded to professionals who have been involved with the Morgan breed for at least 30 years and who have made a lasting impact on the breed on a daily basis through their dedication to working with horses and riders.
David has won many state, regional and world championships, including the 2003 World Champion Park Harness at the Morgan Grand Nationals. His students and customers have gone on to win many of the same; he has had two riders win the Reining Seat Medal Finals. He loves his work and it shows.
